Jerry E. Overbey

Jerry E. Overbey, 75, a resident of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  

He was born to Frank and Bertha (Gentry) Overbey on August 24, 1941 in Belle Rive, Illinois.  Mr. Overbey was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also worked as a mechanic after concluding his military service.

He is survived by one daughter; Carrie Cassidy of Belle Rive, Ill, and two grandchildren; Brittany Cassidy of Mt. Vernon, Ill and Joseph Overbey of Lawrenceville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son; Jeffrey Overbey.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lowry Hill Cemetery on the county line rd in Jefferson County near Belle Rive.  Those attending the memorial service are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Funeral Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #141 of Mt. Vernon.
