George F. May

George May, 75, a resident of Springfield, Illinois and formerly of McLeansboro, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born September 30, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Louis William and Anna Maria (Scheiltzis) May.  George was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Ticonderoga Airfleet Ship.  He worked as an assemblyman for the Chrysler Co. for five years and later became and retired as a welder.  George married Jackelin Courtney and she preceded him in death.

George is survived by his significant other, Mary Ann Hilliard of Springfield , IL and his daughter, DeWana Lynn (Donald) Adamski of Athens, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and wife.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Brady Cemetery in Akin, IL with Rev. Roger Turner officiating and Graveside Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post 106 and a Navy Honors Team.  Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
