John Daniel Smith

John Daniel Smith, 70, of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in McLeansboro.

He was born May 13, 1949 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, the son of Thomas and Lenora Smith.  He was a retired custodian and of the Catholic faith.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Smith of McLeansboro; two sons: John Daniel Smith Jr. of Carmi, IL and Noah Smith of Evansville, IN; two brothers: Thomas Smith of Evansville, IN and Ralph Smith of Princeton, IN; and two sisters: Dorothy Jones of Carmi, IL and Lenora Russell of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Fr. Slawomir Ptak conducting the service.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
