Joseph Wellen Obituary

Joseph Frank “Joe" Wellen, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at his home in Belle Prairie, Illinois.

He was born in Hamilton County, IL on August 18, 1940 to Henry and Mary C. (Wilhelm) Wellen.  Joe worked as a farm hand and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by three brothers: John Wellen and wife Minnie of Dahlgren, IL, Earl Wellen of Dahlgren, IL and Frank Wellen and wife Sharon of Broughton, IL.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Donald and Matthew Wellen; and three sisters: Dorothy Wellen Horn, Mary Rapp, and Eileen Wellen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Fr. Slawomir Ptak conducting the funeral mass.    Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.  He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Piopolis.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home.
