Bill D. Knowles

Bill D. Knowles, USMC veteran, honorably discharged on January 12, 1956, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at home in Gary, Indiana at the age of 87.

He was born to Edith Gray and James Knowles on September 22, 1936, in Carbondale, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Charity G. Knowles (nee Lockwood).

Bill is survived by family members Janice Rutledge, Becky Knowles, Patricia Wallace, Dean Wallace, and Debra Ketchum.

Graveside funeral services for Bill D. Knowles will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating.  Military funeral honors will be conducted by a United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Team and the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106.  Those attending the services are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
