McLeansboro resident John “Bill” W. Mezo, 69, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Bill was born in Ogden, Utah on June 6, 1950, to Thomas B. Mezo and Catherine (Kaufman) Mezo Grubb. Bill was a member of the St. Clements Catholic Church and worked the ramp service for United Air Lines for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Leigh Mezo of McLeansboro, IL; brothers: Karl (Kathleen) Mezo of McLeansboro, IL and Robert (Deborah) Mezo of Highland, IL; sister, Carolyn (Charles) Juengling of Jeffersonville, KY; nephew, Carl David Mezo; niece, Kristen Hart; and sister-in-law, Laura Manion of Aurora, CO.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one son, William Bradley Mezo.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro with Fr. Slawomir Ptak conducting the funeral mass. He will be interred at St. Clements Catholic Cemetery in McLeansboro. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the church for the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Childhood Diabetes Foundation in Bill's name and will be accepted at the church and at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
