David Michael Cross

David Michael Cross, 61, of Dahlgren, IL passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.

David was born December 2, 1959 in Ottawa, IL to Albert Wayne Cross & Nannie Estelle (Beasley) Cross.  On March 5, 1982 he married Debbie Darlene (Clark) Cross who survives.

David worked for the Village of Belle Rive Water Department for many years.  He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all things outdoors.  He loved to hunt, fish, mushroom hunting, and creek walking.  He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandkids.  His grandkids all referred to him as “Poppy.” He will be missed by many and was loved by all.

David is survived by his wife Debbie Cross of Dahlgren, son James Cross of Belle Rive, daughter Tonya Cross of Dahlgren, 4 grandkids: Cody Barnett, Trenton Cross, Destiny Braden and Jacob Braden, 2 great-grandkids: Lane Barnett and Harleigh Rapp, 3 brothers: Albert Cross, Robert (Christine) Cross, and Dennis (Marsha) Cross, all of Dahlgren, 2 sisters: Pat Green and Peggy Vickers, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, and a brother Ray Cross.

Funeral services for David Michael Cross will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, IL with Pastor Leo Hall officiating.  Visitation will precede the funeral service and will be held from 10 am until 1 pm on Sunday.  Interment will take place at Middle Creek Cemetery near Dahlgren.
