Deuard E. “Dick” Johnson, 96, a resident of Broughton, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, IL.
He was born in Broughton, IL on February 9, 1922 to Viron and Hallie (Mann) Johnson. He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. A retired pipe fitter, Dick was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in McLeansboro as well as a former member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks and Eagles.
Dick is survived by two daughters, Linda (James) Medley of Broughton, IL and Sandra Sue (Duane) Donoho of Texico, IL; three grandchildren, Levi Cross, Jackie Isley and Michael Medley; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his beloved wife, Dorothy Marie (Jorsch) Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. He will be laid to rest in the Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton with Graveside Military Honors performed by American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro and a U.S. Navy Honors Team.
