Dorothy Beachum

Dorothy Beachum, 95, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and formerly of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.

She was born December 3, 1924 in Fairfield, IL the daughter of George and Agnus (Parmley) Purcell.  Ms. Beachum was a home maker and a faithful member of the Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Barbara (Lonnie) Broadway of Mt. Vernon, IL; four grandchildren: Richard (Kathy) Erwin of McLeansboro, IL, James (Phyllis) Erwin of Dahlgren, IL, Carol (Eugene) Martin of Mt. Vernon, IL and Misty (James) Woods of Beaver Creek, OH.  Several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, George Frank and John Beachum.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Those attending the service are asked to please meet at the cemetery.  Per CDC guidelines masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be observed.
