Elvis Ray Murphy Jr.

Elvis Ray Murphy Jr., 70, a resident of Dahlgren, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the home of his sister in Dahlgren, IL.

He was born in Dahlgren, IL on July 18, 1948 to Elvis Ray and Leah (Scrivner) Murphy Sr.  A farmer by trade, Elvis also worked at Bennett Metal as a factory worker and was a member of the Delafield Baptist Church and the Muzzle Loading Club in Boyd, IL.

Elvis is survived by his mother, Leah Murphy of Dahlgren, IL; three sons: Cory Murphy of Dahlgren, Troy Murphy of Mt. Vernon, IL and Jason Murphy of Dale, IL; two sisters: Patsy (Gordon) Page of Dahlgren and Judy (Lavern) Peters of Dahlgren; and two grandchildren: Zarek and Arianna Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his father and wife, Bonnie Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with Rev. Bob Deitz officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.  He will be laid to rest at the IOOF Cemetery in Dahlgren.
