Emma Lou (Gholson) Smith

91 year old Emma Lou Smith of Lakewood Ranch Florida passed away at 10:58am on July 28, 2020 at The Sheridan of Lakewood Ranch.  She was a registered dietician and was the first certified Dietician Educator in the US.  She was born to Everett and Ruth (Crawley) Gholson in Flint Michigan on June 8th 1929.  She married Robert Edward Smith and he preceded her in death.

She was a member of the DAR and Community Hope Methodist Church in Palm Beach, Florida.

Emma is survived by one son Robert Edward (Donna) Smith of Bradenton, Florida and two grandchildren Erin Kate Smith and Sara Lee Smith.  Brothers and sisters Brenda (Dennis) Vineyard of Edwardsville, Il, James Gholson of Wood River.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and a brother.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Smith Cemetery near Dale, Illinois at 2pm with visiting hours from 11:00am until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  Gholson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
