Eulah Fay (White) Ray , 98, a resident of McLeansboro, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21st at 12:58 pm, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. Eulah was born August 21, 1922 to Floyd and Ella (Miller) White at their home in Twigg Township, 20 minutes after her twin sister. She married Ralph Ray on December 20, 1941 in St. Charles, MO. They wed just two weeks after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Her husband preceded her in death on April 18,1988.
She was a farmer's wife, homemaker, and worked as a clerk at P.N. Hirsch and Co. for nearly 20 years. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist church since 1933 and was very active in the church until failing health.
She is survived by two sons: Kenny (Yvonne) Ray of Marion and Keith (Kathleen) Ray of Woodlawn. One daughter Karlah (Scott) Wolf of McLeansboro. One brother Millage (Daisy) White of Carmi. Two sister-in-laws: Mildred Webb of McLeansboro and Eleanor Ray of Collinsville. Three grandsons: John Ray (Alison) of McLeansboro; Jason (Amy) Ray of Dix, and Brian Ray of Energy. Three granddaughters: Melissa (Tim) Koch of Woodlawn; Laney and Lexey Hutchcraft of McLeansboro. Eight great grandchildren: Clara Hopfinger and Halle Ray of McLeansboro; Adrianne and Trenton Ray of Dix; Autumn Ray of Crab Orchard; Zerek, Zelena and Zaylor Koch of Woodlawn. One great-great granddaughter Tansley Ingram of McLeansboro. She is also survived by two step granddaughters: Tiffany and Ariel Wolf and four step-great grandchildren: Averie, MaKenzie, Davanee, and JaceLynn. Along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a sister Irene (Lester) Hall, a brother Mark (Geraldine) White and twin sister Beulah Mae (Herman) Skelton; sister-in-law Hazel (Delmar) Carr, two brother-in-laws Darrel Webb and Charles Ray and two nieces.
Funeral services for Eulah will be held Sunday, October 25th at 2:00pm at Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church in McLeansboro, with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Officiating the funeral service will be Bros. Scott Wolf, Jacob Gray and Bennie Webb. Visitation will be Saturday, October 24th from 5-8 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro and Sunday, October 25th from 12-2 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
