Floann Mitchell Obituary

Floann Elizabeth Mitchell, 85, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL.

She was born on June 19, 1935 in Piopolis, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Anselment) Rost.  On July 6, 1955 she married V.L. Jack Reyling and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1989.  She later married Kenneth J. Mitchell on May 18, 1996 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2001.

She is survived by seven children: Kristy (Archie) Bowers, Rita (Glen) Phillips, Karen French, Randy (Beverly) Reyling, Jim (Pandora) Reyling, Jeff (Hilary) Reyling and Cindy (Tom) Anselment.  Grandchildren include Aaron, Adam and Daniel Phillips, Brittany Bowers, Kasi (Jeremy) Sullivan, Jake French, Tyler (Bethany) Reyling, Lauren (Chris) Friar, Lynn (Kane) Smith, Lucas (Breanne) Anselment, Dillin and Shelby Reyling, Justin, Jayci and Kohen Reyling. Bonus granddaughter Brooke Beard. Great grandchildren include Lee, Cody and Elliotte Sullivan, Jayke Friar, Preston Essary, Thorin Phillips, Archer Damron, Aiden and Owen Smith, Harper and Avery Reyling and Mabry Anselment.  She is also survived by one sister Mary Lou Brown and one sister-in-law Margie Mitchell and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Leo and Edward Rost; four sisters: Lucille Allsbury, Irene Kreher, Helen Walk and Eleanor Rankin and a son-in-law Ron “Bosco” French.

She was employed by Elder Manufacturing and Pat’s Cafe.  Her love for children was so great that she also babysat for several children over the years.  She was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois.  Until her failing health she was an active leader of the Beautification Task Force.  She was a member of Modern Woodmen, Hamilton Co. HEA, Red Hatters and Hamilton Co. Queen Pins.  In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she absolutely loved going to the East Side Grade School where she was Senior Reader for about 20 years.  She also enjoyed going to Foxes ballgames.  It really didn’t matter if her grandkids were playing or not, she loved to support all the kids!  Her favorite pastime was Bingo.  She had a “lucky chair” and if anyone was sitting in it when she got there. she would sure let them know!  Another love was singing and playing music with several groups.  She would entertain at various nursing homes, churches and community events.  After being diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in the spring of 2014 she actively participated in Relay For Life.  Often times people would state the Reylings were so lucky.  Well, we are…we are lucky to have had wonderful parents and a strong faith based family.
