Frona Mae Sherrod

Frona Mae Sherrod, 88, formerly of Broughton, IL, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at Kinneybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa.

She was born May 29, 1929 in Hamilton County, IL to Samuel and Caroline (Irvin) Johns.  She married Wesley N. Sherrod on February 8, 1947 and he preceded her in death.

Frona is survived by one son, Richard Sherrod of Granger, Iowa; and two daughters, Cynthia Stone of Marion, IL and Alta Murphy of Laurens, Iowa.  Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Charles Johns; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Beggs and Floye Delap.

A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hickory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.  Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.

The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of local arrangements.
