Irene Hayes

Irene Hayes, 89, formerly of Springerton, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.

She was born July 26, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL to Howard and Only Marie (Todd) Dooley.  A home maker in life she was also Protestant by faith.

Irene is survived by two sons, Frank Allen (Carissa) Hayes of Steelville, IL and Kevin Neil (Tiffany) Hayes of Harrisburg, IL; two daughters, Ellen (Mark) Smith of Springerton, IL and Geri Lynn Bennett of Percy, IL; and one brother, Earl Wayne Dooley of Tennessee.  Thirteen grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil Hayes, two brothers, three sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Rev. Mike Fields officiating.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  She will be laid to rest in the Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado, IL.
