James Truman DePoister

James Truman DePoister, 73, of Crossville, TN and formerly of McLeansboro, IL passed away on January 18, 2022 in Knoxville, TN.

James was born May 4, 1948 at Vickers Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of Ben & Pauline DePoister.  He graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1967.

James worked for Continental General Tire in Mt. Vernon, IL for 14 years, and later worked as an equipment specialist for the Public Works Department in Lake City, Florida, which he retired from in 2011.  He was also a proud United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.  He and his wife Marsha were members of Lantana Road Baptist Church in Crossville, TN.  He loved working in his flowers and was especially proud of his beautiful lilies.  He also enjoyed collecting antiques of all kinds.

James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marsha DePoister, of Crossville, TN; 2 sons: Matthew DePoister & wife Michelle of Murfreesboro, TN and Marc DePoister of Crossville, TN; 3 grandchildren: Elizabeth DePoister, Benjamin DePoister, and Noah DePoister, 2 brothers:  twin brother John DePoister & wife Karen of Manteno, IL and Phillip DePoister & wife Diane of Valparaiso, IN; and 9 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, a sister Phyllis Malchert, and an infant brother Charles DePoister.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of James Truman DePoister will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Mark Lee officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm.  Online condolences & expressions of sympathy may be made at www.gholsonfuneralhome.com
