Joann Juanita Klute

Joann Juanita Klute, 91, of McLeansboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Silver Foxes Senior Living and Rehabilitation in McLeansboro.

She was born April 30, 1935 in Albion, IL, to Victor & Dorothy Smith.  On September 27, 1957, she married Robert Lee Klute, who preceded her in death on February 25, 1993.

Joann worked in healthcare as a nurse.  She raised harness horses with her husband, and raced horses.

She is survived by her daughter Jan Klute of McLeansboro, son Kyle Klute of Michigan, daughter Kourtney Bailey and husband Tom of Albion, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents Victor & Dorothy Smith, husband Robert Klute, son Bob Klute, and sister Jean Bookhout.

Private family burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield.  Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
