Larry Nipper Obituary

Larry Dean Nipper, 77, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on July 6, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL.  He was born on October 27, 1946 in Norris City, IL to Wilburn Nipper & Thelma (Nipper) Farris.

Larry had worked at the Dozier Electric plant before starting as a forklift operator at Walgreen’s Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon, IL where he retired.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran.  Larry loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and hunting with his brother and his grandsons.  He loved his family, and he especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife Carol Nipper of McLeansboro, a son Jimmy Redden of Benton, IL; 2 daughters: Glynis (Terry) Barnfield of Salem, IL and Lori (Brad) Newman of Wayne City, IL; 7 grandchildren: Travis (Brittany) Redden, Trever (Amber) Redden, Rayla (Aaron) Bolton, Ford Barnfield, Jennings (McKenna) Barnfield, Rachel Newman, and Brady Newman; 6 great-grandchildren: Shaun Redden, Liam Redden, Collin Redden, Jacob Redden, Clare Redden, and Niam Bolton; 4 sisters: Shirley (Jerry) Graham of Georgia, Judy Savage (and Albert Straite) of McLeansboro, Janice (Curt) Ford of McLeansboro, and Vickie (Bob) Heriges of Kentucky, a brother Paul (Sue) Nipper of Georgia; a sister-in-law Penny Nipper of Georgia; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn Nipper & Thelma (Nipper) Farris, a sister Rose Webb, 3 brothers: Gary Nipper, Rick Nipper, and Kenneth Nipper, a nephew Ricky Joe Nipper, and a niece Tammy Artman.

Graveside funeral services for Larry Dean Nipper will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at New Prospect Cemetery, east of McLeansboro, IL with Pastor Kevin Sauls officiating.  A private family visitation will be held, and there will be a private procession to the cemetery prior to the graveside service.  Those attending the graveside services are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
