Lawrence “Larry” Ray Thompson, 80, of McLeansboro, IL passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Larry was born November 17, 1941 in Dale, IL - the son of Millage & Edith Thompson.
He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Sterling Boiler & Mechanical in Evansville, IN. He enjoyed working on projects in the garage, spending time with friends & family, and he loved his dog, Rascal.
Larry is survived by a son Ronnie Lee Thompson of Equality, IL; a daughter Donna Sue Grabis of Equality, IL; 2 adopted sons: Terry Thompson and Brandon Thompson, both of Mt. Vernon, IN; 3 adopted daughters: Julie Thompson of Jasper, IN; Krissie Thompson of Mt. Vernon, IN and Felicia Thompson of Mt. Vernon, IN; 2 grandchildren: Amanda (Josh) Maloney of Equality and Daniel Parker of Equality, 5 great-grandchildren: Adaline Parker, Carsyn Weatherly, Hadley Weatherly, Emma Weatherly, Saylor Maloney, a brother Robert Thompson of McLeansboro, 2 sisters: Vera (Tom) Smith of Dale, IL and Teresa Brown of McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents Millage & Edith Thompson, 2 brothers: James Thompson and Rex Thompson, and a sister Verla Richardson.
Funeral services for Lawrence “Larry” Ray Thompson will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Pastor Randall Ragan officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow funeral services at Hopewell Cemetery in McLeansboro.
