Leland A. “Lee” Rubenacker, 88, a resident of Dahlgren, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born April 7, 1929 in Hamilton County, Illinois to Anthony John and Carolyn Catherine (Frey) Rubenacker. He married Charlene Joan Frey on November 24, 1949 and she preceded him in death. A farmer in life he was also a member of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis, Illinois.
Lee is survived by two sons, Roger Rubenacker of Dahlgren and Alan (Jackie) Rubenacker of Dahlgren; three grandchildren, Devin (Kaitlin) Rubenacker, Dana (Jordan) Hamson and Dani Rubenacker, all of Dahlgren; three great grandchildren, Leland Rubenacker, Blakely Rubenacker and Alaina Hamson; and one brother, Melvin Rubenacker of McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlene, sister Bernice Smithpeters, and brothers Charles and Robert Rubenacker.
Funeral mass will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Father Slawomir Ptak conducting the funeral mass. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Piopolis following the funeral mass.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Hospital and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home.
