Mabel Fay Reed, 87, a resident of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Hamilton Memorial Rehab and Health Care Center.
She was born to Henderson and Rella (Vickers) McMahon on March 11, 1930 in Hamilton County, IL. She married Norman Reed on December 4, 1948 and he preceded her in death.
Mabel is survived by two sons; Norman Eugene (Starla) Reed of Staunton, IL and Myron Craig (Katina) Reed of Carlinville, IL, two daughters; Brenda (Don) Lynch of McLeansboro and Trena (Mark) White of McLeansboro, one brother; Robert McMahon of Staunton, IL, nine grandchildren; Jewell Tate, Danielle Reed, Bailey Reed, Alex Reed, Zack Reed, Jason Lynch, Dwain Lynch, Joshua White and Larry White. Seven great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son; Larry Reed, three brothers; George, Carl and Nolan McMahon; and two sisters, Verla Trout and Nellie McMahon.
Funeral services for Mabel Reed will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Revs. Ruby McDowell, Brad Sloan and Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will be at Prospect Cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Hamilton Memorial Rehab and Health Care Center and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home.
