Mark Richard Woods

Mark Richard Woods, 53, of Perryville, MO passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at his home.  Mark was born on July 12, 1971 in Nashville, IL to Richard Woods & Dorothada “Dot” (Johnson) Woods.

Mark worked as an Information Technology specialist and was a U.S. military veteran, who served in the United States Coast Guard.  He was a member of the Perryville American Legion Post #133.  Mark loved reading, often completing two complete novels in a single week.  He also loved his pet dogs.  He enjoyed solving computer problems, and enjoyed his job.  He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan, and he was also a big fan of Duke University basketball.  He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his father Richard Woods of McLeansboro, IL; sister Melissa (Michael) Lamm of Richmond, VA; 3 daughters: Tabatha (Adam) Hullander of Cartersville, GA; Erin (Drew) Hobbs of Mobile, AL and Aubrey White-Woods of Atlanta, GA; and 6 grandchildren: Raven, Lincoln, Heath, Harrison, Benjamin, and Nora.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothada “Dot” Woods.

Funeral services for Mark Richard Woods will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Ruby McDowell officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. “Oddfellows” Cemetery in McLeansboro with military honors by the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106 and a Military Funeral Honors Team. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McCoy Memorial Library and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
