Mark "Bub" Eugene Bowers

Mark “Bub” Eugene Bowers, 65, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at his home in McLeansboro.  Mark was born on March 24, 1958 to John “Briss” Louie Bowers & Claudia (Bridwell) Bowers.  On July 23, 1979 he married Judy (Parker) Bowers, who survives.

Bub enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, working around the house, traveling and sitting in his swing on the porch.  He had worked as a pump operator for the Saline County Conservancy District water treatment plant, and he was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in McLeansboro.

Bub is survived by his wife Judy (Parker) Bowers, a daughter Amber Bowers Parker, a granddaughter Hannah Parker (and fiancé Quentin Musgrave), a grandson Jacob Parker, a great-granddaughter Elliana Jude Musgrave, 2 brothers: John R. Bowers (and wife Phyllis Sue) and Larry Joe Bowers (and wife Phyllis June), a sister Andrea Tennyson (and husband Melvin), mother-in-law Venita (Essary) Parker Carsten, a brother-in-law James Parker (and significant other Debra Thomas), and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents  John “Briss” Louie Bowers & Claudia (Bridwell) Bowers.

Funeral services for Mark “Bub” Eugene Bowers will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Andy May officiating.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist with final expenses and may be made to Gholson Funeral Home.
