Mary Lou Griffith

Mary Lou Griffith, 79, a resident of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 surrounded by her family at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born March 7, 1940 in McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of Herschel and Hazel (Campbell) Cannon.  Mary Lou married Harold Dean Griffith on April 6, 1958 and he survives.  Mary Lou worked as a babysitter for many years and also worked at the former Elder Mfg. Company and Decatur Garment Company in McLeansboro.  She was a lifetime member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church near Blairsville and also attended the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Harold Dean Griffith of McLeansboro; one son, Raymond Dale (Isela) Griffith of Austin, TX; two daughters: Rhonda (Glendal) Mitchell of McLeansboro and Rayla (companion Matt Bilderback) Griffith of McLeansboro; four grandchildren: Dylan Mitchell, Kelsey (Jordan) Brown, Brody Bilderback and Brenna Bilderback; two great grandchildren: Evelyn and Allie Brown; and one brother, Jerry (Kathy) Cannon of Washington, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Georgia F. Cannon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Rev. Jacob Gray officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, July 1, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  She will be laid to rest at Brush Harbor Cemetery near McLeansboro.
