Paul Arthur Wells, 71, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Paul was born on August 16, 1954 in East St. Louis, IL to Arthur & Alice (Moore) Wells. On August 30, 1981 he married Vickey Jean (Millenbine) Wells, who survives.
Paul worked as a Habilitation Technician for the TDL Group in McLeansboro. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and served during the Vietnam War. He later joined the U.S. Army Reserve. He attended The Roads Church in Norris City, IL. He loved fishing and camping. Paul loved his family very much.
Paul is survived by his wife Vickey Wells of McLeansboro, 2 sons: Jamie (Amie) Wells of Wood River, IL and Jason (Dawnna) Wells of Hartford, IL; 2 daughters: Misty Wells of McLeansboro and Chrystal Wells of McLeansboro, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his sister Pat Brown of Albuquerque, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Alice Wells, 5 brothers: Marshell Arthur Wells, Kenneth Ray Wells, Ronnie Wells, Robert Wells, and David Wells; and 2 sisters: Rosie Wells and Fairy Wells.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will be provided by the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team.
In accordance with his wishes, his body will be cremated following the services. Memorial donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Vickey Wells to assist with final expenses and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
