Pauline Marie Kaufman, 87, of Dahlgren, IL passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Wabash Christian Village Nursing Home in Carmi, IL. Pauline was born on March 23, 1934 in Piopolis, IL to her parents Andrew Wellen & Isabella (Karcher) Wellen. On February 16, 1954 she married Henry Anton Kaufman, who preceded her in death on September 13, 2011.
Pauline was a homemaker and was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren, IL and a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis, IL. She was also the President of the St. Ann Altar Society for 4 years. She enjoyed playing card games, puzzles, cooking, spending time with her family, and she loved her pet cats.
Pauline is survived by a son Charles Eugene (and wife Kay) Kaufman of Belle Rive, IL; a grandson Tony Kaufman of Belle Rive, 2 granddaughters: Amy Butler of Dahlgren, IL and Angela Pearson of McLeansboro, IL; 4 great-grandchildren: Michael Butler, Trenton Butler, Trace Butler, and Blake Butler; and a brother Paul (wife Helen) Wellen of Piopolis, IL.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Henry Anton Kaufman, a brother Charles Wellen, and 2 grandson-in-laws: Jason Pearson and Donald Butler.
Funeral services for Pauline Marie Kaufman will be held at 10 am on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Chapel of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren, IL with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, IL. Burial will take place at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Piopolis, IL. Per state guidelines, masks are required at indoor gatherings and social distancing is to be observed.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
