Philip L. Palmer, 68, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his home in McLeansboro, Illinois.
He was born August 19, 1949 in Eldorado, Illinois, the son of Lewis and Helen (Watt) Palmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his meritorious service in combat. After concluding his military service he worked as a master technician for the BorgWarner Company in Bellwood, IL.
Philip is survived by his son, Philip Scott (Dawn) Palmer of Justice, IL; daughter, Lisa Palmer of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Palmer; two brothers, Wayne (Jill) Azar of Montgomery, IL, Gregory (Rachel) Palmer of Alsip, IL; and two sisters, Gloria (David) Richardson of Adams, WI and Marilyn Palmer of McLeansboro, IL. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Philip Palmer will be held Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. He will be laid to rest in Hebron Cemetery near Walpole with Graveside Military Rites performed by American Legion Post 106 and a U.S. Army Honors Team from Marion, IL.
