Phyllis Ann (Schell) Erwin

Phyllis Ann (Schell) Erwin, 68, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, MO.  Phyllis was born July 24, 1954 in McLeansboro, IL the daughter of Floyd & Ruby (Harl) Schell.  On October 12, 1991 she married James Erwin, who survives.

Phyllis was the Housekeeping Manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Mt. Vernon, IL for over 16 years.  She previously owned & operated the Pizza Station & Grill in Dahlgren, IL for 8 years.  She enjoyed shopping, collecting purses, shoes, and jewelry, and she loved cooking for her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all those who loved her.

Phyllis is survived by her husband James Erwin of Dahlgren, a son Lemuel (and wife Shellie) Gage of Dahlgren, a daughter Melinda Neal (and significant other Justin Hase) of Dahlgren, 4 grandchildren: Darian Gage, Landree Gage, Clay Gage, and Lexy Neal.

She was preceded in death by both parents Floyd & Ruby Schell.

Funeral services for Phyllis Ann (Schell) Erwin will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 12 noon at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, IL with Pastor David Schlag officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Dahlgren, IL.
