Phyllis Jean Malchert, 73, a resident of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, IL.
She was born in West Frankfort, IL on January 27, 1944 to Ben and Pauline (Johnson) DePoister. In life she worked as a system coordinator for Bell Labratory in Naperville, IL.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Arthur F. Malchert Jr. of McLeansboro; two sons, Tom (Shelly) Maramba of McLeansboro, Arthur (Bobbie) Malchert of Lillington, NC; one daughter; Diana Malchert of McLeansboro; and ten grandchildren, Justin Maramba, Angel Maramba, Taylor Olivia Maramba, Rodney Johnson, Derek Johnson, Dillon Harris, Eric DeLong, Mason Jodon, Laila Malchert and Benjamin A. Malchert. Also surviving are three brothers, John (Karen) DePoister of Manteno, IL, James (Marsha) DePoister of Nashville, TN, and Phillip (Diane) DePoister of Valparaiso, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Phyllis Jean Malchert will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery near Macedonia, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
