Stephen J. Woods

Stephen J. Woods, 71, formerly of McLeansboro, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020 at his home in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

He was born November 12, 1948 in Flora, IL to James W. and Mary Louise (Houk) Woods.  Stephen was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War.  After serving his country he worked for the Jacksonville, AR School District in transportation.  As a young man he attended the First Christian Church in McLeansboro.

Stephen is survived by one brother, Richard and wife Dorothada Woods of McLeansboro, IL; two sisters: Sara Kaufman of Lafayette, IN and Linda Pierce of Elizabethtown, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Section of the IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro with Pastor Allen Spangler officiating.  Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the McCoy Memorial Library and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
