Obituary

Susan Ann Fowler, 51, of McLeansboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at her home.

She was born June 4, 1971 in McLeansboro to Edgar and Cheryl (Kay) Hoover.  On May 27, 1995, she married John Fowler at Hickory Hill Church in Broughton.

Susan most recently had been a factory worker for Aisin Autoparts in Marion where she worked in the Toyota division for 14 years. She previously worked as a dietary manager in Gallatia, and in the food service department for a nursing home in Ridgway.  Susan was known for her love of animals. Her pets, especially her cats, were her whole life.  She would feed the wildlife at her home, including deer, turtles and a family of skunks.  She was known as an unofficial “Dr. Doolittle,” as her love of animals truly showed what a good person she was.  Susan was a kind soul who never said a bad word about anybody.

Susan is survived by her husband, John Fowler of McLeansboro, father Edgar “Ed” Hoover of McLeansboro, sister Paula (Carl) Weichinger of Macedonia, brother Phillip (Julie) Hoover of Benton, and several other friends and family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cheryl Hoover.

In accordance with Susan’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
