Tommy Gene Lemmons, 77, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. Tommy was born on March 8, 1947 in Kennett, MO to Arthur & Rosie Lemmons. On March 28, 1969 he married Mary Lou Lemmons, who preceded him in death.
Tommy worked in the oil fields as a machinist and he was a United States Army veteran, who served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106 and a former member of the McLeansboro Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2699. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, and going to casinos. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tommy is survived by his son Johnny (Vicky) Green, 3 daughters: Cindy (Jimmy) Lynch, Shannon Lemmons, and Niki (Dustin) Parmley; 9 grandchildren: Ashley (Ben) Westfall, Johnny Green Jr., Chelsi (Dalton) Tison, Miranda Key, Tommy Key, Courtney Rubenacker, Blake Johnson, Alexas Capps, and Jade Lemmons; 13 great grandchildren: Kambria, Kynzee, Ciera, Zander, Lailah, Mila, Merikka, Paizley, Dalton, Silas, Jovi, Sawyer, and Brantley; 2 sisters: Dora Presley and Bonnie Bramlett, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Rosie Lemmons, his wife Mary Lou Lemmons, 12 siblings, a grandchild Nathan Rubenacker, and a great grandchild Braden Smith.
Per Tommy’s wishes, his body will be cremated an no formal services will be held at this time.
