William F. Boyer

William Frederic Boyer, 85, of Eatonton, GA, and formerly of McLeansboro, IL, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 at his home in Eatonton.

He was born October 5, 1939 in McLeansboro to Fred and Anna (Meeks) Boyer.  On March 31, 1961, he married Devora Nelson, who preceded him in death on August 28, 2022.

William was a AMSC (Aviation Structural Mechanic Structural Chief Petty Officer) in the United States Navy, serving as an aircraft mechanic for 20 years.  He was also employed by Hercules Industries as an industrial mechanic for 11 years.  He was a loving father, husband, and friend.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Donna) Boyer of Thomaston, GA, and his daughter Anna (Billy) Holland of Eatonton, GA.

He was preceded in death by his wife Devora Odein (Nelson) Boyer, his parents Fred and Anna (Meeks) Boyer, and his brother Kenneth “Cap” Boyer.

Graveside Funeral Services for William Frederic Boyer will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating.  Graveside military honors will be provided by a United States Navy Funeral Honors Team and the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106.  Those attending the service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
