Wilma Rose Smith

Wilma Rose Smith, 103, a resident of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

She was born June 1, 1917 in Broughton, IL to Everett and Clara (Irvin) Smith.  Wilma married Lewis E. Smith, who preceded her in death.  She was a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, crochet, cooking, and spending time with her family.  She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church in Dale, IL.

Wilma is survived by her son Jesse Lee (Patricia) Smith of McLeansboro, a grandson Rick (Teresa) Smith of Eaton, IN; 2 granddaughters: Darlene (Mike) Craddock of Mt. Vernon, IL and Deanna (Don) Case of Muncie, IN; 5 great-grandchildren: Krystal (Andy) Kelly of McLeansboro, Jake Sloan of McLeansboro, Kait (Seth) Bullock of Dahlgren, IL; Dacia Case and Dalin Case, both of Muncie, IN; and 5 great-great-grandchildren: Kadyn Kelly, Bradyn Kelly, Prestyn Kelly, Lenyn Bullock, and Londyn Bullock.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis E. Smith, her parents Everett & Clara (Irvin) Smith, 2 infant sons, and 3 brothers: Darrell Angus Smith, Marion Lewis Smith, and Malchus Irvin Smith.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Rev. Randall Ragan officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday, June 3 from 11:00 am until the time of service at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  Wilma will be laid to rest at Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton, IL.  Memorial donations may be made to New Salem Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
