Catherine E. Grubb

Catherine E. Grubb, 91, a resident of McLeansboro, IL, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the McLeansboro Rehab and Health Care Center.

She was born in Hamilton County, IL on February 4, 1926 to Cletus and Gertrude (Frey) Kaufman.  In life she worked as a seamstress at the former Elder Mfg. Company in McLeansboro and she also did farm work.  She enjoyed quilting and was also a member of the St. Clements Catholic Church

Catherine is survived by three sons, Karl (Kathi) Mezo of McLeansboro, Robert (Debra) Mezo of Highland, IL and John “Bill” (Leigh) Mezo of McLeansboro; one daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Juengling of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, Karl David Mezo, Kristen (Bob) Hart and Nathan Thomas Mezo.  Four great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Thomas B. Mezo and Harold Grubb; one son, James Eugene Grubb; one sister, Grace Helen Belmonte; and one grandson, William Mezo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro with Father Slawomir Ptak conducting the funeral mass.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  She will be laid to rest in the St. Clements Cemetery in McLeansboro.  Memorial donations may be made to the donors choice and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
