Janet Lou Morris

Janet Lou Morris, 75, passed away at 11:00 am on January 14, 2016 at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on July 18, 1940, the daughter of Allan F. and Mary (Christie) Billington.  She married Val E. Morris, and they are the parents of 4 children Damon, Jim, Patti and John. 

They lived for several years in California, where she worked for a telephone company and Security 1st Bank in Montrose. In 1978, the family moved to McLeansboro.  She helped her husband at their TV shop on Jackson St. and also worked as a nurse for Dr. Tobey and a nursing home.  The family attended the Assembly of God Church in McLeansboro.  She taught Sunday school and was a den mother for Cub Scouts and team mother for Little League. She loved to play the piano. 

She is survived by three sons, Damon (April) Morris of Harrisburg, Jim (Angie) Morris of McLeansboro, and John (Joanna) Morris of Bellevue, Washington. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Michael Morris, Melissa Welge, Heather Morris, Erin Morris, Meaghan Wilkey, Jackie Morris, Trevor Morris, Beth Morris, Jude Morris and Grace Morris; 4 great grandchildren, Charles, Braxton, Aedon and Dallas; a sister Patti Ann (Jim) Moses of Bend, Oregon; a brother Richard Billington of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 4 stepchildren, Valerie, Ellen, Tim and Karen Morris as well as 10 step grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Val E. Morris, a daughter Patti L. Morris, a brother Rev. Allen Billington and a stepson Bruce Morris.

Funeral services for Janet Lou Morris will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro.
