Ronald Eugene Sandusky

Ronald Eugene Sandusky, 78, of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at the White Oak Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, IL.

He was born in Hamilton County, IL on August 1, 1939 to Russell Eugene and Wanda Faye (Reed) Sandusky.  He married Laquita Jane McDonald on July 19, 1960 and she survives.  In life Mr. Sandusky worked as an electrician and a computer analyst for the Babcock & Wilcox Company.  He also worked for the Ashland Oil Company.  He was also a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school and church song leader.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Laquita Jane Sandusky; one son, Gregory Scott (Jackie) Sandusky of Lillington, NC; two daughters, Rhonda Jane (David) Powell of Harrisburg, IL and Cynthia Dawn (Stewart Lee) Phelps of Broughton, IL; four grandchildren, Samantha (Blake) Lueke, Larson Sandusky, Austin Powell and Chasita (Roger) Phelps; five great-grandchildren, Xzavior Sandusky, Claven Lueke, Kord Lueke, Chayli Phelps and Rayci Phelps; and sister, Carolyn Sue (Paul) Johnson of McLeansboro.  Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Regina Fern McDonald of McLeansboro and two brother-in-laws, Donald (Mary) McDonald of Murphysboro, IL and Ronald (Shirley) McDonald of Cookville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

Funeral services for Ronald Sandusky will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Memorial donations my be made to Autism Speaks and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
